One Resort, Three Different Dining Experiences

Between The Great Room, The SandBar Bistro and The Surf Club, we offer three amazing culinary options.

We take our food and drink VERY seriously at Long Beach Lodge Resort. Creating beautiful dishes and cocktails while curating a selection of BC’s best beer and wine is part of the overall experience here. And we’re proud to offer up a wide array of selections that are inspired by the surrounding west coast environment.
Our little slice of paradise is best enjoyed on a full stomach, so we’ve got three different food outlets to choose from - each one offering up a unique dining experience.

The Great Room overlooking Cox Bay, living up to its name.   The SandBar Bistro is the ultimate Summer Seaside Patio.   Across the guest parking lot from our main lodge, you'll find good times at The Surf Club.

The Surf Club

The first rule about Surf Club is that you should come hang out at Surf Club.
There are delicious pastries and an espresso machine to fuel you up in the morning, and a selection of grilled sandwiches, Hot Dogs, Quesadillas and other daily features to enjoy throughout the day.
Not only that, Surf Club's F+B Manager, Curtis Coneybeare, has spent the last few months putting together an insane drink menu. The BC Craft Beer selection is on point, with brews from House of Funk, Tofino Brew Co, Île Sauvage, Field House, Dog Mountain and more. But the big news for summer 2022 is Curtis’s selection of Tiki Cocktails. The tropical drinks are a nod to beach culture around the world, with ties back to rumrunning pirates in the Caribbean.
"Tiki to me represents the beach, flowers and chilling by the sand," says Coneybeare.
Of course the Surf Club is more than just a food outlet. With a fleet of experienced surf instructors, it’s the best place on Cox Bay to book lessons and rent gear. The change rooms add a little luxury to the coldwater surf experience, as do the Hot Tub and Sauna. There’s a pool table and bar to sidle up to inside, and a patio outside to soak up those elusive summer rays.
Don’t be deceived by the name “Surf Club”, because this place is for everyone.

The SandBar Bistro

Arguably the top spot in Tofino to crush a cold beer and a hamburger, SandBar Bistro offers up an epic dining experience next to the sea.
It serves as a takeout window as well, but if you snap up one of the fire pits before sunset, you’d best be sticking around. What better way to wrap up a day then to eat delicious food while mind-surfing the waves as they roll into Cox Bay?
Sous Chef Matty Renaud has dialled in the summer menu, offering up both lighter westcoast-inspired fare and burgers that are best approached with both hands. Seriously though, the man knows how to make a sandwich. Pair all that with a tasty selection of beer, wine and classic cocktails, and you’ve got yourself a beachside meal you won’t soon forget.
The SandBar's the ultimate spot for surfers, guests and beachgoers alike to kick up their feet and bask in the awesomeness of it all. The patio's dog friendly as well, so your pooch can get in on the action too.
Doesn't that sound nice?

The Great Room

When it comes to delicious cuisine at the resort, The Great Rooms hogs most of the attention. It’s our marquis dining outlet, one that’s designed to make you feel right at home.
The timber-framed space has an elevated view of the waves crashing into Cox Bay. When the tide is high and the surf is up, it’s like watching a live-action Canadian surf movie.
The wild coastline that the Great Room looks over has inspired a menu crafted from seasonal locally-sourced ingredients. Executive Chef Shaun Snelling has taken his years of experience in kitchens across BC and created innovative dishes that embody the welcoming feel of the room itself. And our lead bartender, Jessica Walker, just released a fresh new cocktail list that pays homage to our local landscapes.
Catching a sunset from The Great Room should be on the bucket list for every visitor. The clanking of forks and hum of conversation stops for a moment while everyone takes in the moment of beauty that signals the end of another incredible day on the coast.
It’s called The Great Room for a reason!
Hours: 8am – 1pm for Breakfast
3:30pm – 5:30pm for Après Surf + Happy Hour
5:30 - close for Dinner Service

Located in the heart of our main building, on the edge of Cox Bay.

"One of the best “experience” hotels we’ve stayed in"
2024-10-29
We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a 14 day road-trip from Ireland and all I can say is that it was absolutely amazing. The staff were all so welcoming, friendly and attentive. We stayed in room 313 which was on the top floor overlooking the beach with a balcony. Truth be told, the hotel was so good we didn’t venture far over the 3 days, instead opting to just “relax” at the hotel walking the beach or sitting outside at the gas fires taking in the ambience and the surfers catching the waves. The food and service in the restaurant was amazing, I would even go so far to say it was the best food we’ve had in a long time at a hotel! If having food at the hotel, make sure you book a table at the restaurant before 6pm and maybe even arrive a little early. They will not reserve the window seats, but to get the best view of the sunset over the pacific - trust me, it’s where you want to be sitting. Cocktails were also very good. If getting a snack during the day you can get it at the Surf Club which is a few steps from the main building. After dinner we just retired to the bedroom with the gas fires going, patio doors open and enjoying a bottle of wine while listening to the waves crash on the beach. We didn’t do breakfast at the hotel any of the mornings as we wanted something “light” opting instead for the delights from the cafe & bakery Tofitian just a few minutes up the road. As an “experience”, it was hands down one of the best hotels I’ve visited in Canada/US. The team should be very proud.

"Another great stay at LBL"

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful four-night stay in a Rainforest Cottage. The beaches were intoxicatingly serene and our stay was very relaxing. We enjoyed a wonderful meal in the great room, where the ambience and service was superb as always.
